Spend Your Time Making Money

Leave The Debt Collection To Us

If you have a judgment against a Massachusetts commercial debtor, it may surprise you to learn that the courts don’t unilaterally enforce judgments. You sill have to collect – and you’re not going to do that with letters and phone calls.

It’s even more maddening when your debtor continues to operate, paying bills, ordering new things, and collecting on the debts owed to them. There has got to be a way to get paid from a debtor who is still actively doing business, right?

There is. If you know that a third party owes your debtor money and you have a judgment, Massachusetts law allows you to use something called a “reach and apply injunction.” This is a court order telling that third party to pay you instead of your debtor.

A reach and apply injunction eliminates your debtor’s ability to decide where any incoming money goes – when you know it’s going right into their pocket. With a successful reach and apply injunction, the money would go straight to you.

At the Law Offices of Alan M. Cohen & Associates LLC, we have over 50 years of experience collecting commercial debts. We don’t dabble in debt collection; it is what we do. Using reach and apply injunctions is one of the things that sets us apart from lawyers who dabble in collections.

How could a reach and apply injunction get you paid?

We can use a reach and apply injunction, for example, to divert money that your debtor’s clients owe. Instead of paying your debtor for the goods or services they bought, they would be ordered to pay you directly.

In some cases, we can use a reach and apply injunction directly against any online payment services like PayPal or Venmo that your debtor might be using. If successful, the injunction prevent the service from depositing any money in your debtor’s account – and instead deposit it in yours.

Other Massachusetts lawyers come to us to collect on their debt

At the Law Offices of Alan M. Cohen & Associates LLC, we play hardball with delinquent debtors. We aggressively, relentlessly and ethically work to collect on commercial debts.

Reach and apply injunctions are only one tactic out of many that we can bring to bear. If we can’t get you paid, you can be assured no one could have gotten you paid.
